The prosecutor, Elisha Olusegun told the court that Alani robbed one Mrs. Sanusi Odunola of her purse and stole the money kept inside. He added that Alani caused public disturbance when he snatched the purse from the woman, noting that his acts was contrary to and punishable under Section 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria. Alani, however, pleaded guilty to the two counts contained in the charge sheet. He also prostrated before the court, pleading for mercy and swore never to go back to crime.
Delivering judgement, Magistrate Olusola Aluko, sentenced Alani to three months imprisonment with an option of N2,500 fine. Because he was unable to pay the fine, Alani was later taken to Ilesa maximum prison
